Electric fryers

Dive into the world of effortless frying with an electric deep fryer! These handy devices make frying crispy fries, snacks and various other delicacies child’s play. The built-in thermostat precisely controls the temperature of the oil, ensuring perfect results: golden brown on the outside and deliciously cooked on the inside.

What is an electric deep fryer?

An electric deep fryer is a device that uses electricity to heat a heating element suspended directly in the oil or fat. This ensures that the oil heats up quickly and efficiently and maintains the set temperature well. This is the most common type of fryer for home use and also as a professional catering fryer.

How does an electric deep fryer work?

The electric fryer has a thermostat and a heating element. When you plug it in and set the desired temperature, the heating element will heat the oil. Once the oil reaches the right temperature, the thermostat automatically turns off the element. Once the temperature drops again (for example, if you put in frozen products), the element turns back on to maintain the temperature. This ensures a consistent and controlled frying time, which is essential for crispy results.

Advantages of an electric deep fryer

  • Temperature control: The thermostat ensures a constant temperature, which is important for proper cooking.
  • Fast and efficient: With high wattage (especially on professional models), the oil heats up quickly, so you can start frying quickly.
  • Safety: Electric fryers are often equipped with an overheat protection system that shuts off the appliance when temperatures are too high, reducing the risk of fire.
  • Cold Zone: Many electric fryers, especially those with an open element, have a cold zone on the bottom. This is the area under the heating element where the temperature is lower. Leftovers and crumbs sink to the bottom and don't burn, making the oil last longer and preventing a bitter taste to your fried products.

Disadvantages of an electric deep fryer

  • Cleaning: Cleaning a liquid-fat fryer can be a tricky job. Although many modern pans have removable, dishwasher-safe parts, the heating element must often be cleaned by hand.
  • Odor: Deep-frying in hot oil can spread a strong odor in the house. Some models try to reduce this with special filters, but it is still a drawback compared to an airfryer.
  • Energy consumption: A deep fryer with a high wattage can use a lot of power, especially if you deep fry often and in large quantities.

Types of electric fryers

Electric fryers come in many shapes and sizes, ranging from compact and single fryers to large fryers and double fryers for larger families or professional use. There are also convenient extras such as viewing windows in the lid and drain valves to change the grease.
